We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Johnigan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started Onest Homme, because I saw an opportunity to create an apparel company which offers exclusive, thought-provoking designs. Having spent a majority of my career working at major record labels and in music merchandising, I’ve been fortunate enough to work hands-on during the creative development of apparel and accessories items through to the the final production process. By building a company focused on developing exclusive products, featuring original artwork, I can offer music-centric lifestyle apparel which goes beyond just a one-hit logo design, printed on a “beefy” tee.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career path has been interesting to say the least, a path that’s included working as an International project manager at a major record label and Director of the Retail Marketing department at a music merchandise company. My work experience has afforded me the opportunity to appreciate the journey from employee to business owner, even if it’s a bit bumpy at times. As an employee I always operated from a place of integrity, and having now created a brand that reflects this is satisfying in the manner of all ways.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Considering the current pandemic situation, The Lodge – Woodland Hills, has emerged as a kind of safe haven for me. The food is fantastic, they have a great outdoor dining patio (social distancing at it’s finest!) and the staff is on point with safety protocol and procedures – it’s a WIN! 😉

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my creative partner, Xavier De Nauw. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to share the Onest Homme vision and collaborate on a daily basis with someone so in tune with the creative process.
